I(a)mperfect

An anonymous mensa-mind has made some brain-blowing comments to one of my posts, part of which is reproduced for the benefit of anyone reading my blogs:

In a state of ignorance, imperfection is natural and perfection is an effort. In a state of wisdom or enlightenment, imperfection is an effort; perfection is a compulsion and is unavoidable!

Perfection is taking total responsibility, and total responsibility means knowing that We are the only responsible person in the whole world. When we are in total vairagya (dispassion), we can take care of even trivial and insignificant things with such perfection. Perfection is the very nature of the Enlightened one.

The Sai Movement is Anasuya- To be anasuya i.e devoid of fault finding eyes, we have to take a bird’s eye view, take a broad macro view. We have to look at the forest not the trees. We have to look at the grand design and wonder at the beauty of it. This is perfectness of feeling

At the level of brass tacks – We have an Organisation with a leader blessed by Swamy. His vision is that All Devotees should elevate their consciousness by attending Bhajans. He has spared a lot of time, effort and money for this raison d’etre. We have a Centre, we have nice singers we have witnessed some of the best Bhajan renditions of our times in the Centre
The vision of the others below him is- Do more Seva . Work Hard, Be Committed and Do more for people and the community around us.

If we stay at this level there is perfectness of feeling

If you go one level below and look at the trees and the landscape you will find thorns and hawthorns, bushes and slushes – all symbols of imperfections. The lower your level of consciousness the more the imperfections. There is imperfection in speech, imperfection in action and lack of harmony between thought word and deed!!

Did you know a potential Sai Devotee who came to the Centre for the first time saw something and vowed never to return- Where he was sitting, the Carpets were dirty and smelly- One should really wonder at his fate! A small imperfection maya (a carpet) was all the Lord needed to keep him away from the SAI movement.

So what is our responsibility- Yours and mine- We have to clean the bushes and slushes, we have to bring perfection in speech, we have to bring perfection in action in everything below this state of perfectness of feeling. Everyone belongs to us. Everything belongs to us. If the lawn of the Centre needs mowing, it is our responsibility, if the BCM stalwart who is up and about at 3.30 pm and cleans the centre- is down and depressed, we have the responsibility to cheer him up.

Everthing in the SAI Movement is our responsibility. With dispassion and detatchment we will work towards perfection. If we winge and whine, it would not take the lord any effort to keep us in the company of one who left the SAI fold due to a smelly carpet!
We can only do the above if there is perfection in our feeling, our speech , our action and there is harmony between all of these!!!
