Degree of Education

Read an article recently on the truck-loads of degree-brandishing Engineers that daily stalk the bylanes and main roads (of hell) of Bangalore.

Going by my own suffering at the hands of the academia, it might be safe to summarize that modern education has produced an army of well degree-d individuals, who are also exquisitely uneducated.

Rain-gauge

Raining like pussies and puppies, just the right weather for an excuse to be late. I reached office much earlier than everyone expected, and got to hear a comment from a colleague that I am on time only when others are late!

Well, one is judged based on how one acts in times of crisis,- seasons of comfort are never the right premises for judging one's capabilities.

Exer(t)cising

I am (literally) bending over backwards to keep my tummy in. In fact, a six-pack is not even in the cards. But it's interesting how slows your body is to respond the moment it has entered catabolism. You exercise at a constant rate, but your stomach progresses at an exponential one. Quite the reverse of what happened at 25. Life begins to catch up with you.

Health is (junk-bond) Wealth

I was at Deira City Centre last evening with Poohpooh and Baby; after an hour of pointless window shopping, we ended up at the Food Court.

It was incredible to note that while there were about 20 customers lined up at the MacDonald's counter, there was just one at Subway (and that was me). It seems that, of all possessions in hand, health seems to be the most expendable one,- after conscience and common sense.

Medical (Work) Camp

We have a medical camp scheduled for coming Friday, 20th.

Interestingly, there are only three youth involved. To customize someone else's words, many a time we miss out on seva opportunities, because they come dressed in overalls and look like hard and unglamorous work.

Closer to church

Was debating the current conversion crusade and the instinctive reaction of the same with a friend.

Does going to church regularly make one a Christian? Probably makes him only a regular church-goer though.

Ex-Chief Minister Karunakaran visits Guruvayoor every month, which makes him a regular Guruvayoor visitor. It was Spinoza, I think, who mentioned that the last Christian died on the cross.

Sweet-sighted

We celebrated a colleague's birthdate anniversary yesterday, with the cutting of the customary cake. All office-members ganged round the conference table and started clicking pictures of the cake sitting in the middle of the table in all its indifference.

It struck me that everybody was there trying to immortalize the cake in front of them while the raison detre of the cake itself was relegated to the background. Such seems to be the myopic vision of our life. We yearn for the illusory sweetness of the transient, while the permanent source of all sweetnes is rarely focused on.

Love Sai, Serve Sai

Strikes me that devotion to Sai does not make one a Sai devotee. Devotion to the Sai Principle makes one a Sai devotee.

Stealing On Desires

With Swami's grace, last night, I started my Ceiling on Desires sadhana with great fanfare and media attention. For the first time in recorded history, a wash-cloth got wedged between my hands and my BMW.

I reckoned that, since a car-wash would set me back by a good AED 45.00, I could account for my AED 30.00 for the COD plan with just one wash. However, that one wash took me a good one hour, as I knew not what I was doing. The BMW is a big car, and I am not the tallest man. So, I don't even know if I covered all visible areas. The challenge was made more challenging by the fact that, my common senselessnes asked me to wash at night. So, I just assumed that I did a good job!

But in spirituality, the means mean a lot. The end is not in your hands.

My Child of the Pure Unclouded Brow and Dreaming Eyes of Wonder

Trip to the beach on 6th March.

Little do we realize that, at some point, they stop holding your hand for themselves, as much as do for you. Such is life. They are the sons and daughters of life's yearning for love.

Realistic Fantasies

At 20, our reality is very fantastical. By 35, our fantasies become very realistic.

Better Misunderstanding

I was going through an old EPC contract recently. Whatever was not explicitly anti-vendor, was incredibly ambiguous. Reading between the lines led to even better misunderstanding.

Similar to the answers you don't get when you ask women questions. Statements need not be answers.

Racing on thin air

Another Sai brother lost his job yesterday. Unfortunately, he worked in a 'want' industry, rather than a 'need' industry. Our city seems to be riding a thoroughbred of debt on a racetrack in the sky.

Medication and Moronkind

Continuing from my previous post on health, it's interesting to note what mankind is preferring to invest in, these days.

Respecting your body

Praji has started yoga classes. I sometimes feel I need day-long yoga classes to prepare me for the next couple of hours. If yoga means union, I desperately need to get united with myself; I lost myself many years back. Probably this planet as a whole needs yoga classes.

On another note, it's pretty logical that how you respect your body today is how your body will respect you tomorrow. You could probably extend it to: how your respect your body in this life will be how your body will respect you in the next.
