Telegraph, 29-06-2010: Julia Gillard, the new Australian prime minister, has said that she does not believe in God, but has "great respect for religion".
P's C: I know you might be confused, but it's very simple. It's like: I don't believe in murder,
but I have great respect for murderers. I don't believe in terrorism, but I have great respect for terrorists.
Hinduism or more precisely Sanathana Dharama is perhaps the only religion accepts atheistic belief complete completely.
ReplyDeleteSome of the best human beings known to me are atheists while some of the so called devout and astute followers of God are nothing short of being an emotional terror! That is why great masters always, perhaps in the modesty, claim themselves not to be Gods or Saints but only "more human than most humans!".
One of the reasons, I hazard to guess, why atheism is acceptable in Sanathana Dharma, is the belief in the fact that God is omnipresent everywhere and every manifestation of matter, whether animate or inanimate in the universe is an exquisite creation of God. And we cannot respect the Creator without respecting and loving each of its creation anymore than we can honour the painter without honouring all or any of its painting!
Simply put, we cannot be dear to God and say- I love you but I do not or cannot love this individual (for any reason atheist or otherwise) that you have created!
