Timeless strain

As it's Valentine's Day, thought I'd add a verse penned years back.

Speedier than your momentous birth,
Does death glee in fiendish mirth;
Time, the desirous knave
With his gilt edged scythe will engrave
Upon thy tender cheeks, lustrous eyes,
Crooked arcs and jagged lines.
But your heart will call in singular strain,
Beyond the walls of time’s domain;
And your soul will seek and your soul will find,
Your soul is mine, sheaths behind.
